Sometime in 2000, Skip was coerced into taking swing dance lessons by a spunky young girl he knew. As he had grown up taking ballroom and Latin dancing lessons, he had no desire whatsoever to begin learning a new dance style.

While at first he was less than keen on the experience, within four weeks he had fallen in love with the dance, the music, the clothing and the subculture that is swing.

These days, swing has taken over Skip’s life to such an extent that most of his spare time is taken up by swing-related events and activities. He is a well known face on the national swing scene and can be found doing everything from djing and teaching with the Swing Dance Brisbane team to performing in the Swing Dance Brisbane Performance Troupe and designing and updating the Swing Dance Brisbane website.

He’s also a regular at social dancing events and loves ‘funking’ things up a little to modern music. His main passion, however, is Blues dancing and is currently working hard to get the blues dancing scene in Brisbane up and running with his current teaching partner – Jen Edwards.
